Well, I actually don't like spellmaking system (nor am I ever a mage) and I found the armour system in Morrowind needlessly complicated. I felt it was more like a "Hey, look, you can find twice as much loot because you need everything for left and right!" than "Here, look, this makes sense". But I agree with the skills. Just slashing and every now and then a heavy slash is pretty repetetive.
