Good old rambling ahead~

Uni was mostly ick today (not the Swedish course. That one was good :3) So, we'll not talk about that but Fire Emblem~

So, I noticed things while re-reading the script. (For one that Eirika is awesome; damn, is that girl mentally strong.) Aaaaaaaaaand I made notes and now you have to endure my thoughts on them 8D (It took me so long because I was distracted by shiny~, i.e. Hayden and Fado~)

Tana has official become one of my favourite characters 8D She is just awesome and has a great character development; she grows up but also remains a bit dorky at times. She's cute~ Also, I believe she can be pretty manipulative. Just look at those quotes:

Tana: You and Ephraim, my father and my brother... You're all fighting together, fighting for a noble cause. I cannot be left out. I will not be left out. Please, Eirika.
Eirika: ...Oh... All right. I never could refuse you anything. Come on. Let's go, Tana.

Tana: Ah, well... Yes, that may be true, but-- But I've been so worried about you, Ephraim!
Ephraim: I see. Oh, please don't look at me with those teary eyes. If you're really determined to help, then you're welcome to come with us. But you must promise me not to try anything reckless.

Not only Hayden gives in to her, and who we know is pretty lenient with her, but also Ephraim and Eirika (and in a way also Cormag on Eph´s route) give in when she looks at them adorably. Does she know that she can gets what she wants if she puts on that face? Probably. Does she use it for her interest? Arguably. I think she does. (But since she probably hasn't been in situations where that can end extremely badly, i.e. in her death, it probably sounds worse than I think it is. So. Tana is awesome 8D And has obviously inherited the most broness.

The script also proved once again that Innes and Tana really don't know Lyon. Neither Tana nor Innes seem to know even one of Lyon´s character traits. (Though Tana seemed to know that Vigarde was a very peace-loving man).
And I don't think that the relation between Frelia and Grado is that good. Or at least not really close. And maybe it is just Innes´ personal opinion, but I found this quote to be interesting:

Innes: ...They say Renais has fallen. I believe I warned you before. This happened because you provided Grado the opportunity to strike.

It seems that Renais had different contracts with Grado and maybe Serafew as a town of both countries plays into it as well; Innes seems to think that Renais´ defence was lowered. Which also means that Frelia doesn't do that and that the land is more clearly separated. And Fort Rigwald? It was said that the garrison was untakable and it seems that it stands very close to the Frelian-Grado border. Serafew is obviously not a garrison. What does that tell me? Have there been repeated animosities between Frelia and Grado? (In my headcanon, yes) The border town Mulan between Frelia and Renais had a garrison but not as well-manned as Rigwald. Coincidence? I don't think so. (Animosities~ In my headcanon, Hayden´s and Vigarde´s fathers had a more or less big quarrel and since then the families barely interacted. Which is why Hayden and Vigarde met at age 17, in contrast to Fado who both met much earlier.)

One last thing to Frelia (then we will move on to the wtf that is the Eph/Eir/Lyon friendship timeline. And Duessel 8D And Carlyle and Ismaire.)

(Some dude from Carcino) Young Man: I've heard that Prince Innes of Frelia is a fantastic tactician. Grado took Renais with no trouble, but Frelia still has yet to fall. They say it's because Prince Innes has spies reporting every move the empire makes. At the same time, all enemy spies in Frelia are exposed and executed swiftly. That means that none of Frelia´s secrets are ever reported back to the empire. I've never met Prince Innes, but he doesn't sound like a man you'd want as an enemy.

Innes´ spy network? I doubt that. I think Innes can do many things but build up a intercontinental spy network at his age? No, my disbelief cannot be suspended. Of course, that is just some random dude in Carcino and I doubt he has much knowledge, but I DOUBT that the spy network is solely Innes work. Besides, the man knows that the network exists. The news that Frelia has a spy network manages to enter the sphere of the common people in CARCINO after founding it (seemingly) only a few years ago? Yeah, no. Personally, I think that the spy network exists far longer. It may be even older than Hayden. But it's definitely not Innes´ network.

Ya know, the relationship of Carlyle and Ismaire are pretty messed up, but we knew that already. But what I noticed now... is that Carlyle is really creepy. Let's look at this quote:

Carlyle: After years of duty, years of service, years of...of silence... I became aware once more of the feelings I'd buried deep within myself. How could I leave this world without expressing my true desires? Could anything be more desolate? More devoid of meaning? That is when I made my decision. I would follow my heart and claim your hand as my own.
Ismaire: Carlyle... You forget yourself. You ruin our country and kill our countrymen. Did you think I would be pleased? Did you think I would love you for this?
Carlyle: I need no country. I care nothing for my countrymen. I can see nothing but you. If you would only be mine...

He seems to really have NO IDEA what Ismaire wants, loves and why she does what she does. She wants to protect her country; she even unconsciously put her country over her son and now he comes and destroys the very things she protects and expects that she reciprocates his feelings? He can only be mad and stupid. How can he not see that she would probably hate him for the rest of her life? He completely disregards her wishes and no, I don't think he really loves her anymore. He's obsessed and wants to OWN her. He doesn't care for her opinion. And goddamn, that is creepy. What if he had succeeded? Would he have taken her away and lock her up until she loves him? And never let her out because she would flee? Ick. Ickickick.

And since we're just at ick and creepy; Riev is a magnificent bastard 8D I like him~ (Yeah, I don't what is wrong with me as well. Valter, RIev, Cazalla, I heart them all~)

Now! Duessel 8D I noticed that he is adorbs. >< Really. Just look at this quote and remember his A support with Amelia:

Soldier: You speak nonsense, General! We are your men, no matter what happens! If you must leave Grado to fight with Frelia´s men, then our place is at your side. Your road is our road!
Duessel: My brave men... Sniff... Bah, I'm getting old. I'm a sentimental old fool.

I just like it when Duessel gets so sentimental XD I dunno, I like it. He seems to be a strict teacher and person, but then he shows that he has a really soft heart and it is awesome. (And just remember Cormag saying that Duessel was like a dad for him and Glen~) Awesomesauce~ (Also, I completely forgot that Duessel seems to have visited Renais quite often in the past. Which is why Ephraim saying that Duessel was his main teacher confused me XD How could he have done that when Ephie has only come to Grado a few years ago~ Oh, self~)

And before I get started on the strange timeline fail/ confusion; some time ago, we wondered about how soon after his death Vigarde was revived. This is the quote from his resurrection:

(Flashback, Lyon and Vigarde are in Sacred Stone realm)
(Knoll runs up to them)
Knoll: Prince Lyon! What's happened? Prince...
Lyon: Oh, hello, it's you... What was your name again? Ah yes, Knoll. You're one of my researchers. I've glad tidings for you. My father is back.

It clearly says one year ago. And Knoll tells us that the Emperor died about a year ago. So it cannot be more than a few months; also, how soon have people started to talk about his absence? How long is still unsuspicious? One month? Two or three months? Not much longer probably. Also, in this quote, one of the flashbacks, Lyon already talks about his father´s illness with Eirika and Ephraim:

Ephraim: How do you intend to use the Sacred Stone, Lyon? Do you really think you can tap into its power?
Lyon: Mm... My research isn’t complete yet, but there’s no mistaking the power the Sacred Stones contain. And the Stone of Grado seems especially responsive to my dark magic. I suppose it’s because it contains both sacred and demonic properties. Regardless, if I can just press my studies a little harder... Well, I think I might be able to use it to heal my father’s illness. If that works, there’s no telling how many other people I can help as well.

So it is really a longterm deterioration and his illness was long known. (Which reminds me that I kind of wanted to write canon broness a few years pregame. Oh broness~)

But now onwards to the confusing timeline of the trio friendship.

One we know for sure: Two years ago, Ephraim and Eirika studied to History of the Stones in Grado.

Ephraim: The Grado capital... It look like it hasn't changed at all since the last time I was here. Eirika and I came here once long ago with our father. Duessel taught me the lance, and I studied history with Lyon. I never imagined I'd come back here armed for battle.
(Flashback, Lyon and Ephraim are in the castle)
Lyon: ...And so the hero Grado and his companions used the five Sacred Stones to seal away the evil of the Demon King, and his wicked soul was locked within the Stone of Grado. The Stone of Grado came to be known as the Fire Emblem. To this day, it's kept safe and honoured as a national treasure of the empire. ...I think that's about it. For more on Grado´s life, read “Founding Emperor Grado.” It's comprehensive.

(Also, Fado was there as well. Bro duo on tour, y/y?) With the "most important" Stone being in Grado and the big Imperial Temple it makes sense that the twins study the history on-site. And it looks like the twins stayed in Grado for at least six months:

(Flashback, Eirika and Lyon are in the garden in Grado)
1 ½ years ago
Lyon: When tomorrow comes... you have to go home, don’t you?
Eirika: Yes... Thank you for everything, Lyon. I’ll never forget the time I spent here.

Otherwise that quote doesn't make sense to me. And it takes some time to study, ya know XD So they spend six months together and become friends. It doesn't seem they had contact after that (Lyon already said that he has much to research and stuff, and the twins probably didn't expect him to visit them in that span of time.) So. A two year friendship (Or rather six months. But it seems that they have grown close very quickly and so I don't find the twin´s insistence that they and Lyon are superduper tight friends strange. Some people managed to get close that quickly.)

But then, look at those quotes:

Ephraim: It won't happen. Duessel was my teacher, and I know he is a man of character. And I've known Lyon since we were children. He, Eirika, and I are old friends.

Lyon: She... Eirika has always been a very important person in my life. Both she and her brother have been friends of mine for a long time. Tell me, Caellach, do you have any friends to speak of?

Both Lyon and Ephraim call each other "old friends". What is their definition of "old"? Are two years already "old"? Does that mean that in reality they know each other for longer than we know? But what about the scene at the very end of the game, the one which shows the twin´s and Lyon´s first meeting? They're clearly at least teenagers already. Are just their definition of "old" so strange? Or does it rather convey a feeling of "old"? Hm-hm, that probably has to remain interpretation. Personally I think it's more of a feeling that they know each other for more than just two years.

Alright, that's all for today~ Feel free to add your thoughts.

P.S: Self, please stop walking into door handles. I don't want any more bruises on my elbow.

P.P.S: Goddamn, I'm so unfit. But sports are pure haaaaaaaaate D8< Ugh. Ughughugh.

P.P.P. S: Thoughts on religion are not completely clear and ordered yet. But I can say one for relatively sure; Magvel does not have a clear cut monotheism yet. It is still mostly polytheistic. And yes, that does include Rausten. Explanations for that will follow some time in the future 8D
