Copied from the FE Wiki:
A 'fado' is a sad Portuguese folksong. The word comes from the latin 'fatum' meaning 'fate.'
I don't care if that's really where his name came from. But this is so awesome I need to use this somehow. Somehowwwwwwwwwwwwww.
This is also fun:
'Vigarde' probably derives from the word 'Vígríðr' which in Norse mythology is the field on which the battles of Ragnarök will take place.
Because Norse mythology rocks.
