Alter. Nein. Das war furchtbar. Aber was solls.

Bastian, why are you so fun? 8D With you I can really go overboard with writing XD

Also, I just installed an add-on for firefox; AllowClipboardHelper. And magically I can paste my OpenOffice documents into Rich Text editor without losing my formatting 8DDDDDDDDD If anyone else has this problem with firefox, try it out and see if it works. So awesome <3

Edit:

You know what's strange? I had the very strange urge to communicate in German on the internet for a few hours now. Not entirely sure why. Maybe because I start to think in English more and more and am missing German? Though I speak German the whole day and watch TV. There's no real reason to miss it. :I So strange.

OMG LOL

"Elisabeth - The Musical"(Vienna Production) is just so fucking awesome. I love Lucheni. So awesome. And all of the singers are great, actually. Franz Joseph´s actor has such a nice voice; not too dark, but pleasantly velvet-y. A voice that sends shivers down your back when lowered. Aiaiaia. Also, Der Tod. Ein Zuckerschneckchen. Elisabeth herself is also pretty awesome. Her duets with Der Tod are just so Hnnn. I think I need to watch the DVD again.

Snarktastic Lucheni. 8D

The songs are all awesome as well; Kitsch, Augustinerkirche, Marktplatz in Wien, Wiener Kaffeehaus, Budapester Generalwiese etc. So many gems there 8D

Here, have a sample:

In other news; finished "Emperor´s Edge". A very fun read. Amaranthe is fun, Books is awesome, Maldy is also great and Hollowcrest is still a villain I'd like to do bad things to him. Which is a sign of my liking him. 8D

WHY IS LEGO PIRATEN SO AWESOME? ROGER, YOU'RE ADORBS IN A STRANGE, PIRATE-Y, OLD-MANNISH AND GOLD-GREEDY WAY. YOU REMIND ME OF SCROOGE MCDUCK. CAMILLA, YOU'RE AWESOME AND A LITTLE TROLL 8DDDD ALSO, I LOVE HOW EVERYONE IS A CRIMINAL AND CORRUPT AND NOT SO NICE. ESPECIALLY THE NAVY DUDES. YOU'RE ALL BAD GUYS. I LOVE IT:

AND POLLY, YOU SNARKY PARROT. YOU ARE AWESOME. YOU ARE SO AWESOME THAT I IMAGINE YOU WEARING AN EYEPATCH LIKE THE CAPTAIN. AWESOMESAUCE.

ALSO, THE INTRO MUSIC MAKES ME SO RIDICULOUSLY HAPPY AND GIDDY 8D I MADE IT MY RINGTONE. PURE HAPPINESS. I THINK I NEED TO UPLOAD THE 6 EPISODES ON YOUTUBE. THE AWESOMENESS NEEDS TO BE SPREAD.
scarletmorning: (Isaac&Garet Yeah)
Oh man. Oh Man! I've just been hit by such a nostalgia slap. Somehow I remembered the Lego Piraten Hörbuch and immediately googled it. I still have a few of the casettes, but not all. Oh god, and the moment I hear the intro music, my heart sped up and I'm all "8DDDDDDDDDD *squee*" and my skin tingles happily. Also, the guy voicing Captain Roger is a famous voice actor, but I can never remember his name. Also, Captain Roger is awesome. 8D He's like, the epitome of what a pirate is supposed to be to me (and how he should sound like~~~)

Edit:

Oh, and since I'm just on topic (and because Captain Roger kind of reminds me of him); I always thought Dagobert Duck, also known as Scrooge McDuck, was the best Disney character. I loved his stories the most. Then Tick, Trick and Track, also known as Huey, Dewey, and Louie (strange names) and Grandma Duck was also fun. 8D

Edit2:

OMG WHY DO I WANT TO READ EPIC LEGO PIRATEN FANFICTION? WHAT IS WRRRRRRRRRONG? MOAR CAPTAIN ROGER PLZ öslhkjdröäsjzvh

Edit3:

This song is really awesome 8D

"zweckentfremden" >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> "to divert sth. from its intended use"

German is so much more awesome >8D We have so many lovely words.
scarletmorning: (Kent; You did what?)
16.5% of the population of Germany is under 18 years old.

16.5%

Of roughly 83 million people.

That's what you get when you never support children and their needs. Or cut the money for schools and kindergardens. Don't act all surprised now, politicians. You're definitely not innocent.

Oh, and the climate? Yes, sometimes it truly feels like Germany is a children-unfriendly country. Stop bitching about children´s noises when you move in next to a kindergarden and said kindergarden was already there when you moved in.

Serious
ly, guys. Stop being stupid. Stop just moaning about the missing kids and DO SOMETHING FOR POTENTIAL PARENTS SO THAT GETTING CHILDREN DOESN'T LOOK SO HORRIBLE AND LIKE THE END OF THE WORLD (and your social life).
scarletmorning: (Turisas can't hear you)
Does this sentence make ANY sense grammatically?

Am I not worth enough to be fought for?

Because the English Grammar, it is deserting me ;A; (For context: Minna is asking Viggy if she doesn't mean enough to him for him to fight for their relationship. And I want to keep "worth" in it. Because.)

scarletmorning: (Germans have words for everything)
So, I was looking up stuff in the library and after I finished that, I suddenly noticed a lovely book standing out. It's title was "Johannes Rothe; Ritterspiegel" and I KNEW I couldn't walk past it without devouring reading it 8D Oh, the fun I had. Anyway, most of the things I already knew but there were a few things about heraldry and signs of stand that were new and awesome.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves. It would be smarter to start at the beginning. So:

Johannes Rothe lived in the 14th and 15th century (1360-1434) and was a cleric and teacher. Said "Ritterspiegel" is a didactic poem which should teach young nobles how a proper knight should live (there were also such texts for royals, which were called "Fürstenspiegel"). If they lived appropriately is another question, but the Ritterspiegel is a testimony about how the ideal looks like; and that this ideal was taught in this time period by this teacher to a certain audience in a specific region.

However, the ideals when it comes to behaviour are not what I am interested today (as already mentioned; I learnt nothing new here). However, heraldry. New and shiny. And yes, I really, really do want to incorporate that in fic someday XD
Cut for a looooooong list 8D )

ALRIGHT, history hour is over 8D I'll stop pestering you now~
scarletmorning: (Germans have words for everything)
Self, stop it. You don't need even more historical figures to fangirl about. You already have Karl der Große, Friedrich Barbarossa, Friedrich II and Heinrich VII (or even all the Staufer). You do not also need to fangirl about Ludwig der Deutsche. XD So awesome~ Damn, I really do have to tell you the wacky and awesome anecdote about Ludwig der Deutsche I've heard in the lecture today. It's not as wacky as the one about Karl der Große and the monster nomming on his penis, but boy, it is funny as well. (I couldn't help but picture Ludwig as Hector. Fffffffffff, he would've reacted similar, I believe) But I have to look it up again since I didn't manage to write down everything.

---

Also, I was hit by several relevations earlier. Please skip this if you're not interested in semi-coherent self-analyzing.

Cut relevations )

Okay, to make this post a bit more happy and lovely I'll ramble and squee about writing. Namely about writing styles since I've noticed lately that I've discovered a new "writing style" for me;

Playing around with tenses. By which I mean; I love combining present and past tense. Not just randomly, of course, but to write on different times levels. To show that something plays in the past in contrast to the "now" in the story, which would be present. To show that something is changing without being so obvious about it. Making flashbacks without having to indicate it in the text or without having to put everything in italics.

And the present tense is attractive because it gives (me at least) a feeling of immediacy and closeness. Past tense always feels a bit distant, as if I'm really just a viewer of the happenings from high above. In Present tense, however, I feel as if I'm really in the middle of the narrative. As if I'm experiencing everything at the same time as the character. And that is great. Not all stories are suited for such closeness, of course; I can't immediately tell why or which, but after writing a few sentences I know if I want the reader to be close or not.

Let me explain how that would look like with an example (the Lyon story for raphi): Lyon studies and the tense is past. It's the frame narrative. Then he falls asleep and the tense switches to present. Because the reader is with him in the dream. The reader can't see the dream from an outside position, they have to enter Lyon´s head to see the dream. And the logical conclusion is, well, that they are with him and experience it as Lyon does.
It's a matter of hovering over Lyon in the frame narrative and standing directly next to Lyon in the embedded narrative.

Of course, I don't know yet if everything works as I want it to work. I'll have to wait for reactions as soon as I'll be able to post it. (And the contest entry >8D It has tense switch as well. But there the switch is even less marked (the Lyon story still has "- -" to indicate the scene changes inside the dream) which is why I then need a guinea pig to test it 8D)

So, do you have any writing techniques you love to death? Or techniques you recently (or not so recently) discovered to be awesome and fun?
scarletmorning: (Default)
Should I be fangirling about historical figures? Yes, yes I should and will fangirl die Staufer, especially Barbarossa, Friedrich II. and Heinrich VII. And I noticed that I did for almost a year now (unconsciously though). Oh, and btw, self, STOP BUYING SO MANY BOOKS ndashgafausoi You already had a slight financial negative last month. You wanted to not throw money out of the window for books this month. BUT. How could I not buy a book about medieval European literature and Latin Medieval literature? And there are chapters about certain types of literature from that time AND SO MUCH LOVE *squee* Andandandand a book about the women in the life of Friedrich II. Which reminds me that I've bought a book about queens in the early Middle Ages a few weeks ago and I don't know where I left it >8I I have to look for it. I stopped around the Visigoths and I want to read it now. Kinda. After reading more about Friedrich´s mother. (BTW, I so love those old names <3)

Which reminds me. There was a big exhibition about the Staufer last year or so because there was some kind of anniversary (Stauferjahr). It was awesome :D And I did buy a book there that I haven't read as well yet D8 Nargl. And even before that (though it rekindled my want) I've wanted to write fanfiction about Heinrich VII XD Because DADDY ISSUES. Are fun 8D Well, his life story is kinda sad and I was all :< while reading it.

AND I still have more books lying around I've never finished ;^; A book on food in the Middle Ages, about inventions in the Middle Ages, a few books on literature that I have to read (for Uni and for fun) and other random books. Such as Caesar´s Gallischer Krieg. XD

Last part, I swear. Since the new prompt from [livejournal.com profile] fe_contest  is up, I'm scouting my brain for ideas. I might want to write a bit creepiness (because creepiness is fun) about zombie!Fado (what did you expect, honestly) or other zombies. Though I'm not completely sure it falls under game mechanics? But creepinessssssss~

Dieter Nuhr is probably the most awesome cabaret artist ever XD I love him. His comments are always so fitting. (And he is really good at picking up "typical" German habits and making fun of them). Also, yeah, he is kinda hot. 8D *is shallow like that. at least for now* But the shiny internet (and love advice Moulder) are seriously distracting XD

Also, have been amusing myself with college!bros the last few days XD Unsurprisingly, it didn't turn out that cracky. Especially when it came to Viggy and Minna. Oi. Oh well.

I kinda want to write something in German again. I dunno why.
