Have been feeling kinda melancholy and down the whole day. Painting my grandpa´s chairs and showering hasn't helped, which it has before. Fuck. Therefore I kinda hate the world a bit right now. It would definitely better if my creativity hadn't died, but I don't know how I could change that.

However, I feel good enough to ramble a bit about decomposition. In Renais. Just because. Mostly because Fado.

So. First things first: Renais has a rather warm climate. It's protected by mountains from the north and south and is close to Jehanna. It gets warm winds from there. Magvel as a whole has a pretty warm climate, I imagine. There is no region that truly seems like it has cold winters. The only country where I can ever see snow falling regularly is Frelia. The west of Renais might sometimes get some cold from there (oh, and western Grado as well) and Rausten might sometimes get cold sea winds as well, but snow is not a common occurence.

Back to topic; we have no timeline for the happenings. We don't know how long it takes from Eirika´s departure to the fight with the DK. There are no hints that the weather changes somehow. So, my guess is that it doesn't take longer than a year and that they start sometime around spring/summer (so that they are around Jehanna in autumn/winter where they don't get cold weather). So my thought is that Eirika´s travel to Frelia and then Renvall to get Ephraim takes about a month (it seems that they rush pretty much and take it more slow on the travel back to Frelia). They need about three months until they reach Jehanna, maybe a bit more. So that makes it about four/five months until they are back in Renais.

Now, how did the invaders take care of the corpses? A mass grave is possible or they just piled them up somewhere outside the town/castle and let them rot/be eaten by animals. Which option do I choose? The second one of course. What did you expect? So, Fado did lie around with all those other corpses outside. Summer is rather dry in Renais and there was not too much humidity so most corpses will already be mostly mummified. The ones at the bottom not so. They're still a bit softer, the gases haven't all left yet and saponification is still working (of the drier variaty). Fado belongs to the more-mummified variaty since he lost his lower right arm and so bacteria had an excellent entrance and his blood left him more quickly. Most of the gas has already left, but some of it is trapped under his armour and the tissue under his armour is still a bit softer as well; it keeps the air and humidity very well. Unfortunate for the people who find him.

Anyway, the animals have not yet reached the place where Fado is lying so they did not nom on him yet. Others were not so lucky so they find many body parts or ripped up bodies, which is definitely not a pretty sight. However, since the people are not particularly careful about getting Fado out there, they rip off parts of his skin (probably the face since his clothes won't have disappeared yet and protect him a bit). Oh, and maybe dislodge a few bones. His skin has already turned blackish by this point and I'm not sure if he'd still have eyes, I have to look that up.

And now I can't think of more to ramble about. Fffffffff, I wish I could write. ;A;

According to the "derived timeline" at Serenes Forest, the entire war plus the earthquake occur in the same year: http://serenesforest.net/general/timeline.html

I don't like that, personally, but oh well.

I don't have more to add because my headcanon isn't sure if Evil!Lyon decided to treat Fado's body respectfully or not.

I'm not sure if Lyon even thought about that. I rather imagine that he left that to some general who didn't much care about it. Maybe Lyon didn't want to take care of that anyway (guilty feelings at that time might still be there).

Yeah, I'm not buying that the earthquake happened in the same year.

OK. But the body of a king is a fantastic propaganda tool. If I were conquering Renais and Fado's dead (but the twins are missing), Step #1 is to exhibit Fado's body to crush the spirit of the people-- either by putting his head up in public or by displaying the entire corpse.

I doubt they left him lying where he fell. He's too useful not to exhibit.

It would, but does Lyon do anything but go in there, kill and leave again? He doesn't do anything with Ismaire as well. Lyon wants the stone and nothing else. Maybe he even left it to Orson since Lyon didn't seem to have any interest in keeping Renais.

I don't think there's anything in game that substantiates this, though, is there? Seems like guesswork to me, and then the quake only seems immediate on Ephraim's route, it's pretty iffy, IMO.
