Ahaha, that's what confused us. I understand how you can be a fan of the role the tactician plays, and the openness the role provides to your imagination as someone enjoying the game or writing a 'fic, but to say, "ONE OF/MY FAVORITE CHARACTER IS THE TACTICIAN" doesn't really... I don't understand it. He has no set personality. How can you like a character who could be ANYTHING?

I saw that this morning, but didn't get a chance to post on it because I had to go. Just. Ugh.

Also, if you're going to pimp tactfic, why not pimp good tactfic? Seriously, people like Enilas are the reason I generally stay very far away from the tactfic genre. (That, and there really aren't that many good pieces of tactfic out there.)

Hmhm, I've read here and there about the bullshit he says.

Tacfic is just... I mean, FE7 isn't my sandbox anyway, but still... I don't find the tactician interesting. I was actually annoyed that the characters talked to me. It threw me off. I am so glad that neither 8 nor 9/10 have a tactician like that.

You know, as a story tool the tactician has the potential to be an interesting part of the story without being the central figure in it. He doesn't have to get with Lyn, or Florina, or if the tact is a Mary Sue--er, sorry. If the tactician's female, then she doesn't need to get with any of the many hot males. I'm still solely convinced that writing tactician/canon character 'fic is nothing short of wish fulfillment.

But, like. There can be good tactfic, I suppose. I just don't know if it exists.

I feel bad for the dude--but maybe that's just because I really can't stand Enilas and think his writing is average at best, and the same applies to his advice.

Ugh. I love Kender's tactician. So much. I've told her multiple times. Aside from her, the only other tactician I like is. Uh. Marius', actually. But that story is only two chapters in, so I don't wanna jump the gun.

What about SoloWing's tactician? He was pretty good. A *bit* Stu-y but at least it wasn't ~all about him~ and he tried to keep everyone IC.

My biggest beef with 'fic that has the tactician isn't that they get with a canon character (though really I try to avoid stuff where it does happen quite obviously from the beginning of the story, because it's just a recipe for crap stew...I mean Stu). It's that everyone gets turned inside-out and wonky-woo just for the sake of the tactician getting a date. Really? REALLY?

Lyn's fighting for Caelin's throne and for some reason all anyone is caring about is ROMANCE? ALREADY? WTF MAN. WTF.

I mean, it's like their priorities are all wrong. Romance? Sure. But being the focal point of pretty much EVERY TACTFIC OUT THERE? I don't get it.

See, it makes me sad when people write a fic solely for the ~*romance~*. I mean, they're in a freaking war.

I didn't think Enilas's review was so bad...until I got to the pimping his own 'fic part.

On one hand, if he genuinely believes his 'fic to be good... I guess it makes sense? But on the other hand, that's a really egotistical thing to do. I would never pimp my own stuff as "How to write [insert character or type of 'fic here] right". :/

I mean, if he had stopped there, I wouldn't have said anything. But that pimping? So shameless that, well, we have a nice word in German which expresses my feelings; "fremdschämen", which means feeling ashamed of an action of another person in that person´s stead. So someone does something so embarrassing and doesn't notice it that you yourself feel the embarrassement that that person should feel. Damn you, English and your inability to create words just like that. (That's why I love German so much <3)
